If you cook cabbage on New Year's,the next year will be prosperous.Spilled rice brings good luck.If you eat hoppin'John(black-eyed peas and rice cooked together)on New Year's Day,you will have good luck all year.

I have never heard of these. Where did you hear of these? Did you make them up? Are they part of your culture? Very interesting...

My grandfather told me that,and he said to me that it's our forefathers culture,Here's a new one Don't wash clothes on New Year's Day or someone in your family will die,pretty scary!but it's just a superstition,and it's up to you if you will neglect it.

I hadn't heard of the rice either. But got another one.Jawl bacon or any kind of pork on new year's day for health.
