Better to discuss personal problems with close relations and friends or online?

What's more comfortable for you, discussing problems with strangers online or people you know very well and why? What's your view on giving advice that may or may not work out to people you're not all that close to...

I don't like to talk much about my problems either to close friends or online, I would share it with some online friends sometimes but I've known them for years and they are not "strangers" to me just because we never met in real life. On the other hand I'm very cautious in giving advice to people online, only would say the most logical and appropriate things, would not advice someone to leave his/her partner or something like that because I don't know all the facts and they may not be telling me the whole truth but if things go wrong they may blame me for it just the same.

If your online friends have been around for years, they're pretty much your close friends. I'd avoid giving advice from now on but they probably won't listen to it anyway if I did because it's unlikely to be what they'd like to hear.^_^

I think it depends, sometimes one can open up to someone on line because they are like an anonymous friend, sometime when you discuss things with friends or relatives they try to offer too much advice, and sometimes things can be thrown back at you later on. Online can be good so long as you keep it at an anonymous type level.

I suppose it's a good idea to avoid getting close friends too worked up with solving your problems.^_^
