I'll go first...I am completely obsessed with Pride & Prejudice. It goes beyond the book, mini-series, movie...it is more of a lifesyle. I am always playing scenes in my head. I will quote from it, like if I think about a person I don't like I always remember the line "my good opinion once lost is lost forever"...or telling a boyfriend..."you must allow me to tell you how ardently i admire and love you." What are your biggest obsessions? How does it affect your life? Do people know about it?

I'm responding to your discussion not because the Obsession topic, but Pride and Prejudice. Apparently you are truly a great fan, citing Mr. Darcy's lines, LOL! I like P&P, too, the BBC version though. And Colin Firth is just the one to be Mr. Darcy for me. Imagine how hard I laughed when watching Bridget Jones with him in it. Thanks for bringing in Mr. Darcy'lines, Anyablue, I'm smiling as I'm writing this response =)

Another P&P fan! For some reason I can't remember Lizzie's lines. You think I would be able to since I'm female :) But Darcy has some good lines, though. Colin Firth was perfect as Darcy. If I had only one movie to watch for the rest of my life it would be the BBC version of P&P. I'm glad I could bring a smile to your face, Avichail!

LOL...! Yes, that's one of movies I'd really like to keep, in fact I have 2 sets of the CD. But I don't really like the Keira Knightley's. Too short and the characters did not seem to stand out like the BBC's. I found so many enjoyment in almost every character in BBC's. Here's another movie I'd certainly like to keep, I AM SAM. Have you seen it? Anyhow, thanks for this sharing Anya =)

I didn't really like the version with Kiera Knightley either! It was too short and I couldn't imagine her as Lizzie. But Matthew Macfayden was good as Darcy. I haven't seen I AM SAM. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

I hope you save time for your life. Are you doing anything to increase your earnings? There are a lot of knowledgeable people here on mylot. But be careful - there are a lot of scams out there.

a friend of mine is obsessed with rhythmic gymnastics. She is always telling us about the programs of different countries, how they compare and differ. She even knows the diets of her favorite gymnasts. Check out www.youtube.com It has tons of clips featuring gymnastics and ballet. I love looking at the ballet clips - they are more graceful than I'll ever be! lol

well, I cannot say I am obsessed with pride and prejudice like you, but as you've already seen this is one of my favourite books and I've read so many times in Italian that I started reading it in English, too. I've also found it as an audio book and used it to improve my English...well, maybe I'm a bit obsessed with this book, too. I'm also looking for a very nice edition of this book to give me as a present...I mean one you can have in your library as an elegant book...have you any advice about this? an elegant edition? Maybe that the reason why I love this book is because it is about one of the thing I am obsessed with...gentleness and politeness...you see, when someone asks me what is my ideal man ..I answer...a gentleman...I have a very high opinion of people being kind and gentle and I can never forget a person being gentle with me... I love ancient times because of this...because they took into the right account good manner and gentleness while today you can too easily find bad manners, that are regarded as a sign of being smart or up to date.

I think I'm in love with your post. It is so elegantly written and perfectly conveys what you mean. Yes, people were allowed to be polite and gentle in ancient times. It is a rare person that can express true gentleness these days. Well, we can still practice it. In regards to finding a good edition of the book you might want to look at ebay.com. They have several old editions that are leather-bound and quite lovely looking. Or maybe a bookstore in your city? That would probably be the first place to check. Being in Europe, I imagine you can find all sorts of old classics.
