There should be a one everyone's life.I got the shock treatment when the most beautiful young sales girl in a bookshop called me uncle.

A salesman in a store tried that old ploy of trying to call me by my first name to create a sense of fmiliarity to ease a sale. So he asks my name ("and you are....?") and I told him "I am Ma'am". The guy was probably in his 30's and blushed the deepest red I have seen lately. That was the moment I realized I was not young anymore. I exercised power and the poor fellow felt chastized to his core. Life is good!

Well I haven't had any verbal comments, but my knees creek when I walk up stairs. It scared me at first and at a Dr's visit asked about it and let him hear it and feel it. The grinding comes just behind my knee cap. He told me that was nothing and to listen to his. and sure enough his was twice as loud as mine and is about 20 years younger than me. That made me feel a little better, but knowing that I haven't really taken care of my body, it is talking to me now. I notice running is a little slower now. And aches that I didn't feel before I sure feel now. But overall, I am pretty darn sprite and am sure not ready for the rocking chair and shawl.

I can truthfully say that there as never been an incident in my life that led me to believe that I wasn't young anymore. I am 71 going on 17. I see an old woman's face but I have a 17 year old heart yearning to live life to its fullest. Age is simply a state of mind. If you think young you are young despite the aches and pains of arthritis, bladder problems and other such things that seem to plague older people. I just accept these things and get on with my life however many more years it takes.

I guess what made me realize that wasn't young anymore was a combination of things. My hair starting to turn white. And when people that work with the public started calling me sir rather than son.
