Is It really ok to keep contact with a friend who has just started ignoring me?

I had a friend. I thought him very good friend of mine. We were in same city until few months ago. That time he used to act like he is dearest friend of mine. I also believed the same. But few months back when I have come back to my home town he started behaving in aloof way. initially still we used to talk and all but now he avoids me.

Your friend has other interests now and probably feels as if he knows things that you do not. It feels like he thinks he has outgrown your friendship. It is rather small of him but that is the way people are. It's probably best if you just leave him alone and start making new friends.
He isn't treating you very well and you deserve better.
