Do you work in shifts, full time or freelance?

I am employed in the hospitality for 8 years now. Most of the time i am working in shift duty. I find it much more convenient to work in shift then a normal 10 to 7 or 8 to 5 job. The reason being other activities like going to child's school, visiting govt. offices etc can be performed when you are in shift duty without having to take time out from your work. What is your opinion?
