No I don't think he performed well in his first stint. I say so because he didn't act promptly and correctly in Godhra case. He should have ordered for president's rule in Gujarat seeing the riots. I don't think he had the courage to take difficult decisions. I really respect him as a person. But he doesn't have the desired courage and skills that any person in such important position needs. So, I don't think he should be selected as the president of India again.
