Should Young Kids be Allowed into Movies Rated above PG?

Yesterday we went to the first showing of Eragon. As soon as we walked into the theatre I knew there was going to be trouble. There was a group in the front, two adults 3 kids. The kids were maybe 2, 3, and 5. Now I know from working in daycare that kids that age DO NOT and CAN NOT sit still and be QUIET for the ammount of time we were in the theatre! I was right. Went out twice to complain...and wouldn't ya know, the ONLY TIME they are quiet and not bouncing around is when the manager is standing in the back watching them! LMAO! Arrgh. So, what I saw and what I was able to hear of the movie was awesome. Had two boys sitting behind us that were hilarious (made me think of your boys Autumn!) they had comments on everything! Now kids that age are great for movies like that...in fact, their dad was asking THEM questions about the movie!!! (just to show I'm NOT a kid hater) sigh What do you think? I'm of the opinion that NO MATTER WHAT kids younger than 6 SHOULD NOT be allowed into movies rated above PG.

I dont think so....kids should not be allowed....Some rules are made by the board after a lot of discussion...people sitting in the board are not fools....According to psychology kids' mind gets bad impressions when they watch stuff which they are not suppossed to watch. Kids does have very sharp memory and grasping power....so if they watch some violent scene they may get violent sometime .. so we should be careful and we should not let them what movies which are not of their level.

I can tell you I have seen stuff in G & PG movies aimed at kids that I would not want my kids seeing. I usually have more problems with unruly teenagers acting like fools than little kids. The teens who have been dropped off & make all sorts of noise, throw things & just disrupt life. I rarely take my girls to the movies because it is almost $15.00 per person for a matinee.

i think so too. is eragon good? anyway, back to the topic. sometimes, these kids can really disturb other people. obviously, kids at 2 3 4 couldnt possibly understand anything that's going on. unless if its cartoons.

I completely disagree having children and taking them to the movies is one of our pass times. It's the parents not the children. We let them get away with way to much. My children are quite during movies and don't bounce around of course they are older now. But when they were little I also took them. I just always told them if they acted up or bothered anybody else they wouldn't come anymore. If they acted up then we all left. This happened once and we left since then the problem has been corrected. The biggest problem is that parents don't feel this is a problem that they disturb other people. Not the age of the child. Maybe I am just old fashion.

Not old fashioned, either that or I am too because I completely agree.

there is a reason why movies are rated and that is to protect the minds of these innocent children. I feel parents are to blame most of the time as they dont want to take time out to find somebody to look after their kids and then take them to a lot of inappropriate places. These children as a result miss out on a lot of things they should be doing at that age and hence grow up a lot faster. So i agree that NO MATTER WHAT kids younger than 6 SHOULD NOT be allowed into movies rated above PG.

well yeah..its the standard of censoreships so we must abide by it..as you stated in your discussions that level of age cant sit still..it will create more noise..and besides they wont be able to understand the movie anyway..theyre good for cartoons only i think..

i am not a mother nor i don't work in any children related jobs but one thing i know children at their young age is not allowed to watch movies or television shows rated pg on their young age. movies and shows might influence the children and ruin their psyche.

I don't believe in taking young children to movies above PG rating as the ratings are there for childrens protection & anyone who breaks this is putting their children at risk (in my opinion).

yes to make them aware whats going on and to give them a view of right and wrong... most of the children learn from what they see... inspite of what they have advised or told... so its a betta way to guide them... and make them friends...

I think they can be allowed in, but if they cause a disturbance the theater should be required to refund your money.

no they shudnt... that will make them over matured before time.. they shud respect their age n stay within the limits... but on the other hand if they rnt allowed then the curiosity creeps in n can extend to warning limits..So i m really undecided on this one.. Perhaps there shud be a profile/habit understnading program b4 allowing them to above PG movies...
