I have walked and fished some beautiful streams, rivers and lakes. I even bought a boat and motor but nothing has been any more fun that fishing from a float tube. You are right at the water level and you can go into places you just won't get into with a boat. I have taken my float tube into places that it would be hard to even get a canoe into because the bush was so thick, but my float tube packs on my back. I can where my boots so I don't have to carry them and a little air pump and I'm ready to go. A few minutes of pumping and I am on the water having the time of my life. I really enjoy it but found it much more fun with a second float tube and a friend, so I bought another one and now I take a friend and we have a blast together. If you haven't tried it and you like fishing try it. You will enjoy it I guarantee. The only thing I would recommend would be plenty of sun screen because you are very close to the water and it a lot of sun gets reflected on you. Next I would recommend you have good footwear and flippers so you can fish all day without your feet bothering you. My funniest float tube story happened one sunny day along a stretch of road that was used by a lot of truckers. They are high enough to see over the guardrails along the road and river. One guy actually stopped his big rig and tried to give me assistance. He thought I was in a sinking boat. We had a great chat and I am sure he will eventually buy a float tube for himeself and a buddy.
