I believe the Bible is made up of things that Man wants, not God. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

I think believing the Bible was divinely inspired, therefore, Literal Word takes believing in things that a normal person in todays world would not believe. Suppose I told that today my dog stared talking to me in English. Suppose I told that, just today, I saw a bush burst into flames right in front of me. The bush then told me, no, commanded me to kill my young son right there on the spot. How would anyone short of the most extreme fundumentals reacte. These days we know about scizophrenia(sp?) and other problems with people's wiring. To believe that the Bible is mostly allegorical and metaphore, makes me wonder how a person decides which parts are to be taken literally and which are meant merely for the lesson? Could the six days of creation really been 6 billion years to a people who didn't comprehend billion? Was a "great shaking of the earth" really have been an earthquake. I believe the books of the Bible were written by men to explain the unexplanable. Just like every other religious text before and after. But what do I know, I can't figure out how my German Shepard learned English.

I disagree. Man may have penned it, but God authored it. The Spirit of the Lord moved on men, and they wrote what was inspired of God.

The Bible is comprised of 66 books, 40 writer's, over 3600 years of man's history and took over 1500 to write. Yet, things written and prophesied about over 3000 years ago are still coming to pass in today's world. With so much time between writers, how do supposed they agreed on what to write, had it not been God?? There were kings for writers, shephards, doctors, tent builders and many more. They came from every class, had many different background experiences. Again, I ask, how could they possibly have agreed on what to write, had it not been for the Lord?? If were to get together in one room today, 40 men, there's no way they would all write something that agreed with the others. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the Bible is THE Word of God!

i think there are many religion bcoz of different interpretation being made by man. religion is a cultural institution. the problem with institutionalizing God's church through religions is that each religion tries to limit that is limitless. thre are many religion bcoz man's nature is to adopt truth to his particular circumtances...

I disagree; Man was inspired by hearing from God to write the Bible. It is not from things man made up.

I HAVE TO DISAGREE. YES THE BIBLE IS (WRITTEN) BUY MAN BUT THE WORD OF THE BIBLE DID NOT COME FROM MAN, THE SCRIPTURES OF THE BIBLE CAME FROM THE LORD HIMSELF, DOESN'T MATTER WHO WROTE IT, ITS WHO IT COMES FROM. TO BE A CHRISTIAN MYSELF, IM NOT PERFECT BUT I KNOW THAT THEIR IS A HELL AND I HAVE THINGS TO WORK ON BUT IF I CHOOSE TO CHANGE MY LIFE COMPLETLY GOD WILL BE THERE FOR ME LIKE HE IS NOW. EVEN TO A PERSON WHO IS NOT A CHRISTIAN, THEY STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE THEIR LIFE AROUND AS LONG AS THEIR ON EARTH. BUT WHEN YOU DIE AND YOU HAVE NOT ACCEPTED CHRIST ON EARTH THEN YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY WITH SAITAN.

How does it feel to know that you are going to Hell, sinner? Thou shalt not question the word of God.

I really dont care. It gives people insight. The book must have been written by men to make others lives better. Whatever book, nobody should be bothered about the author only the content of the book matters. This is what i feel guys. Sorry to disagree with you.

No I do not agree because. Though it is written by a man who is considered equivalent to God but his preachings in Bible are no less than what God wish to say for a man to be perfect on the earth. If all us those believe in their own religion follow strictly what has been said in their holy books there won't be greed, enimity, war and there will be peace & harmony.

i believe that God uses men to have his message expressed. It does however become slightly biased because of the regular men who could never understand the true extent of God.

I believe that the bible is written by man through the power of the Holy spirit. It is a reference of what God wants man to be.

The Bible was written by multiple authors over a long period of time. What we have now was actually voted on; some parts were left out for one reason or another. Those who believe the Bible is the literal word of God are historically ignorant.

I agree with you on the part that the bible was written by man but as the bible itself states that those men are no ordinary for they were guided by the holy spirit. On the bible as made up of things that man wants, I think its made up of moral guidance/guidelines for man to follow wether man is to believe in all of them or to pick those what is only good for his convinience is all up to man. greetings. : )

Please read Conversations with God, it explains clearly that the bible was written by man many years after the actual happenings. The stories were passed down from generation to generation until people finally learnt to scribe. The scribes only had the interpretation that they were told by their ancestors, therefore in some places the principles GOd tried to share came through and in other places the stories were totally misinterpreted. Hope this gives some clarity.

What man wants? Not really. It's a lot of rules and man doesn't like rules. We like to live for ourselves, not for others or for God, so I'd have to disagree. The heart of the Bible is about a love that is undescribable and totally not something man can figure out on his own. I totally believe that the Bible comes from the inspired word of God.
