Well I think my question to you is do you think that it do you think it was fair when everyone started black balling them when they made the comment they made about the president??? I mean in all fairness they were voicing thier opinion based on freedom of speech...

I think that one of the most beautiful things about the United States is that we (supposedly) have freedom of speech. I think it's very unfair that they have gone through so much for just speaking their minds. I actually kind of agree with them. I have never been a fan of our President. I think it was a little unfortunate that they expressed their thoughts in exactly the venue they did, but I still support their right to do so. Even if I completely disagreed with everything they said I would still believe in their right to say it. I love the song they wrote about it, "Not Ready To Back Down." It's so powerful that when I first got the CD I would play it on repeat and listen to the same song over and over. I finally got around to listening to the rest of it and I think it's a really great CD. I think they're great. I'm glad they're successful even without the support of country music.

I agree with everything that you have said...I may not always agree with things that people do but if you truly like them then you support them no matter what

Is freedom of speech worth protecting in USA? Thousands of Dixie Fans thought so when they bought the Dixies cd's and sent their sales rocketting as a result of the industry reaction. People power!!! at its finest. :)

They had every right to say it. And I like them even more now for saying it. If you haven't seen it yet, check out Shut Up & Sing. IT's a documentary about everything that went on around that.

I love Natalie. I think she's a great performer in a great, original band which will go down in the history books as one of the most groundbreaking bands of late. But- she's human. Maybe it wasn't the best decision to express her opinion the way she did, but she did it. I don't think she should have to have been crucified for having an opinion. Lots of people say lots of things in public- but this got way overblown.

I think it's fair. People used their Freedom of Speech to say that The Chicks don't represent them. There is no true Freedom of Speech. There are limitations on it, both legal and common sense. You don't yell fire in a crowded theatre, you don't run up to a steroid freak and hit on his girlfriend, you don't tell your wife she's fat, and you don't say you're ashamed to come from the same state as the President on the eve of a war while you're in another country. There are a lot of ways to get your point across in better and smarter ways. They were just stupid and this whole 'black balled' thing is a marketing gimmick to make them more than what they are which is washed up.
