I made eggnog from scratch tonight for the first time. It was more work than I expected. I hope it turns out ok, it sure was expensive!!! Does anyone else have experience making eggnog?

6 Eggs ¼ cup of Sugar 1 Quart Milk 1 Teaspoon Vanilla (for using stove) In about a 2 Quart pan, beat together eggs and sugar. Stir in 2 cups of the milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick enough to coat a metal spoon with a thin film and reaches at least 160°F. If it turns chunky and looks like watered down scrambled eggs, you’ve cooked it to long. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining 2 cups milk and vanilla. Step 2 Cover it and place it in the refrigerator for at least 7 hours or over night. Just before serving, pour into bowl or pitcher. Serve immediately. (for microwave) In 2-quart liquid measure or bowl, beat together eggs and sugar until thoroughly blended. Set aside. In l -quart bowl, cook 2 cups of the milk on full power until bubbles form at edges, about 6 minutes. Stir into egg mixture. Cook on half power until mixture is thick enough to coat a metal spoon with a thin film and reaches at least 160°F, about 5 to 6 minutes. Stir in remaining 2 cups milk and vanilla. Cover it and place it in the refrigerator for at least 7 hours or over night. Just before serving, pour into bowl or pitcher. Serve immediately.
