I live in Asia, specifically, here in the Philippines. In our culture, it is not common for families to put your elders, grannies, in Homes. Unlike most westerners, it is very common that most of the elders live in Homes. My relatives there in the U.S. put up a Home, aside from a good income, they can express their love for the elders. I'm not against it or something but I would love to take care of my mom when she gets old, really old, that's when I can give back the love and care she gave even when I was still in her womb. How bout you guys, your view on this, open to share!

I also have grandparents whom I love dearly. I cannot imagine them live without us. Sometimes, I admit, I cannot understand their belief but it's the love that keeps us together and also the desire to be with them. Maybe US has people too busy to take care of their own elders.

Beliefs? Do you mean superstitions or the like? Well, I've encountered alot of those. It is not bad to tell them that you have a different view, and you can actually tell them bout it. They may have additional info from you, isn't it great! sharing something new to the old!?! Yes, it is always the LOVE, for it is the foundation of life, and of course respect plays a great role. I hope and pray that busy-ness wouldn't hinder people to show to the elder their impotance in every minute of their lives. Thanks!

Personally, I wouln't let my elder relative to stay somewhere else if I can support them in my own home, in our house. Maybe, it's also because of the culture I grew up with. But still, it's up to them where they want to stay. I love elder people, learn so many things from them, they are the ones who know what happened centuries ago, world wars, so many things. Really love them!
