I need some help/advice/answers about Virus protection. Yesterday when I was searching for clip art I think I picked up a downloader or some type of virus. All at once I got several notices from my virus protection stuff and I followed their lead and clicked on clean file or delete file. In one case it said was not able to clean so it quarintened it. About 5 or 6 notices one right after another. I could tell my computer was acting funny after that. Slow and pages sticking together and such. The notices kept comming back every 10 minutes and each time I would answer clean, delete, whatever. I also ran my virus protection, spyware etc then shut her down. Today I have gotten two notices in just a few hours. Why does the clean not clean or why is it only being cleaned temporarily? How or why does it keep comming back and how do I get rid of it before it does some real damage? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If the virus was detected by your anti virus software program and quaratined, then you can check the location of the file and manually delete it. If the program will not shut down in order to be deletable, you can start your computer with a boot disk and delete it through MS-DOS. Another option would be to run System Restore, providing of course that you are using Windows, and simply turn the systen back to before the problem occurred.

No, if you manually delete it then it will be removed. The same should apply with System Restore, because the system will be overwritten with a registry back up.

Did you do a complete scanning of your computer. I think the virus also infected other files. So do a complete anti-virus scan before it gets affected on all files.

Yes I did do complete scan, thats why I cant understand why it keeps comming back. But what u said about infecting other files makes sense. That would explain it keeps showing up each time a new file gets it. Im gonna run another scan or try to delete the file myself. Thanks alot for your help!

First of all i think the virus should have done damage yet, so you don't have to fear other damage! However the reason why the virus keeps coming back is because when it is installed on a pc it reproduces himself (this is why those programs are called viruses) and the antivirus cannot delete all the copies!! You have to find all copies manually (and sometimes it's really hard) or wait for an update of your antivirus, so it can delete all the copies of the virus. Hope i was clear enough...

Sorry i just read your comments and see you got rid of the problem, if you still want the virus software its free and very good. i used it and it keeps my laptop virus free, my website and chatsite are completely protected by it, doing scans whenever you want and easy to use. Just ask!
