Difference between Plasma TV and a LCD TV

Friends,
We know that there are different types of TV now., One of them is Plasma TV and another is LCD TV. What is the difference between a plasma TV and an LCD TV. what are the advantages of each type of TV? Which type can we buy so that it will be advantageous to us. Kindly tell me the differences between the two in terms of the working principle, the cost and other advantages.

ok Plasma is ran off of a gas witch after so many hours of watch tv the gas runs out and your tv is then trash lcd is ran off of liquid crystals and last much longer than a plasma other than that I dont know much about them, but I do know that so I think the best bet is go with a lcd
