The size 0 craze.

I don't know about other women, but i would hate to be a size 0 (think it's uk size 6). I am a size 4/6 (uk 10/12) and i'm very happy with that. I have hips and curves and my weight suits my frame. If i was any thinner i don't think it would look right. Now i know there are a few who are naturally that thin, but do others really want to be a size 0? Adn i read some statistic in glamour magazine that only 1% of women are naturally a size 6, and that many have the waist of an 8 year old!

I was a size zero for a year or two and it was horrible. It's almost impossible to find jeans that size. No i wear about a 6 or a 7 but my hips are very wide for my size. About 5 inches wider around my hips than my stomachs. I love it though. I feel the same way as you, if i get any thinner it won't look right. I have no desire to be a size zero. for your glamour magazine is that only the models who are a size 6? Because I believe the average size of a women is much higher than a 6.

i think the average size these days is a 14/16. I really do think eating disorders will only continue to get worse due to the media and stresses of life, and now there is the rapid rate of increasing obesity as well.

I heard on some news show that the average size in the US is 12. I bet it will go up. I often wear a 10, sometimes a 12. I have a rather small frame and it doesn't look like a 10, people usually think I wear size 6. It's weird, but cool with me. If I don't like the size on something, there's a simple solution: cut out the tag.

I just hate when slim people grab bits of themselves and say they are fat, what kind of example will that set to their children?

Forgive me for saying this, and I am overweight so this is touchy for me. But this size 0 craze most definitely supports eating disorders! Besides, it's just not realistic! Why can't women especially be convinced that they should like who they are no matter their size instead of being convinced that thin is only beatiful???

I really don't know, there are many guys out there who prefer bigger women...i agree that it does support eating disorders, if only 1% of the population are supposed to be this size, than many people are going to need to starve themselves in order to get to that point.

I hate that view too that only thin is beautiful. I actually think a lot of overweight people are very beautiful, nothing to do with size. I wouldn't want to date a stick figure, I'd be afraid of breaking them.

I think a size 0 is just too small. And it drives me crazy these days how women are considered "plus size" models if they are a size 12 !! That is perfectly average. It only encourages eating disorders.

It's crazy to try to lose more weight than necessary, over-weight is bad but under-weight is not healthy either, i think that statistics and charts doesn't apply to everyone, what's important that someone looks good, anyone can judge for him/her self if they need to lose weight or not, if they are happy about how they look then it's the right size.

mathmetically 0 is nothing, so how can you be size nothing??? And beside I feel like the size is not as accurate as before, because most people want to feel good, feel as if they lost weight when they go shopping while doing nothing, so the store just change the tag. For example, I have a pair of pants for probably 8 years ago, it was a size 9/10 back then, and recentaly i bought another pants from the same store, but it was a size 4. I am sure I didn't lost weight at all, and I compared both pants, they are excatlly the same waist. yea..... I don't know what to say now.

I have yet to see a woman that small look attractive or have any natural curves. Personally, I like me the way I am, I'm not fat fat but I"m not really thin either, average I suppose. I like having curves, that,to me,is sexier than looking like a board.

My best friend was a size 0, but she always got comments or people asking her if she was anorexic. She really wasn't, she just had really good metabolism, so even though she pigged out a lot, she still burned off calories. But I would NEVER want to be that skinny. When I start dieting, my goal is to get down to a size 8 or 10. I think my frame, anything lower I'd look sickly.

It's an awful size to be. It's like you have a child's body. I mean, do men seriously dig that?? A woman is better curvy, with actual skin to grasp at.

I agree. But it really depends on the person. My sister is a size 4/6, she went to the states for the summer a few years ago and put on half a stone. Now she didn't have a perfectly flat stomach after but no way was she in any way fat, but i remember her grabbing her stomach and saying,'look at the fat'!...and i know girls thinner than me who do that too...it's really sad.

Since my son was born 2 1/2 years ago I've been a size 0. Now before then the smallest size I could fit myself into was a size 4, and could wear up to a juniors 7. I dont know why ANYONE would WANT to be a 0. Finding that size in most pants is damn near impossible for me, since I need a 0 long. I am totally not happy with the way my body looks being in a size 0 - there are no curves, its just stick straight. Its not attractive to me at all - I'm actually repulsed by myself. I'm pregnant at this point - and can't fit into my size 0 jeans...and almost hoping that after I have this baby I won't go back to that size either. It just looks unhealthy.

I'm guessing you're naturally thin? I've read things about girls who hate being so skinny, but there are lots of others who are envious.

I normally am a size 6...right now I've gained a few pounds and am not fitting well into my clothes...anyway, even if I were to lose a lot of weight, I don't see myself being any smaller than a 4/6. I don't think my bones would allow me to fit in a 0, and I don't want to anyway. These girls like Nicole Richie, or that Olsen girl that's anorexic, look ridiculous and sick. That's not attractive. They look like skeletons with skin.

I agree with you. I think the tiny frame is just ugly, there is no body shape on these woman. Its one thing if its natural but I don't get why society is pushing this unrealistic size on us. I think the tiny models are ugly.

actually i agree that many models aren't really pretty, but it's the fact that they're tall and skinny that is important.

I used to be a size 0, but that's when I was a little younger, now I'm 21 and I'm still small, but I now wear a size anywhere from 2-5, I'm still trying to gain just a little more weight, and it's not because I don't like being small, I just want to be healthy that's all.

That is too skinny. A size 0. Most women arent that. That it people who are on TV and starve themselves. You should be happy with you. Not what you see on TV. Most people in this world are overweight. I do think you should be unhealthy. But I think you should be happy with you.

I agree that being happy with yourself is important, sometimes people who lose weight to be happy often find it's not the weight that was the problem.
