Should Kelly Clarkson thank American Idol every time she wins an award?

Many people were angered when Kelly won a grammy and did not mention AI. The way I see it, although AI is where she became famous, she should not have to always thank AI everytime she wins an award, she did create her own fame by her excellent voice. Does Hilary Duff thank "Lizzie Maguire" for making her famous, or does Britney Spears or other previous mouseketeers have to thank the Mickey Mouse Club when they receive an award? Let me know your thoughts...

I don't think so.... She became famous because she really proved that she is the idol.

I think by now, she is flying on her talent, not on American Idol fame. I think she can be done thanking them.

Does she deserve a award? thats the question. Actaully for someone who releases what other artists don't want she's got her name out there on the b-side. opps, no offense.. hehe to the topic. no shouldn't thank american idol i guess it's cool because this shows loyality. (she should thank the songwriters who gave her the songs to sing tho) ~joey

no i dont think she should say thanks everytime she gets an award. if she has done enough to get the award, then it is done on her own back not american idol

I think of she should thank them every once in a while. Not every single time but once in a while is nice. Just so we know she still remembers how she got there. It also lets us know that she is not a diva or a snob. I think that is very importent. That she stay humble.

I think that she shouldn't have to thank them any more. I mean your right they gave her a start, but she has taken her fame farther than any other AI winner because she is a great performer.

No I don't think that is necessary but I do think she should remember where she came from. Don't get me wrong she is extremely talented and I enjoy her music but I hear she really snubs them and I find that unfair.

No, she really needs to distance hersekf from the show. Besides, look at all the publicit she gets for not thanking them.

She could thanks AI in some awards, but not all the time. Of course they helped her to be know and to record an album but for the rest, it,s all her. She's the one with talent and she's the one writing her own song. It only help her to get throught her dream :)

I would say that maybe at the beginning, for her first album, she should have/and did (from previous post). After that, she should forget about mentioning it. I mean, I wouldn't mention AI, but thank someone from there. But now that has gone one and done numerous albums, I wouldn't bother. Obviously with her talent, she would have been found eventually, and gotten on fine without AI, but she chose a different route. Why not? Whatever helps you attain your goal and/or gets you ahead, why not? As long as she didn't step on anyone's toes, go all diva on us, or whatever, I think it's fine that she got help from AI. Just a note, I don't like AI. I don't watch it. I saw it an bits in pieces a couple of times because someone told me how great it was, but it did nnothing for me. I've always disliked Paula Abdul (I like her music though). I think Simon is a bit much. Apparently is works, since there are so many viewers and the show keep coming back. Whatever works.

Although you make a good point you have to remember that AI is different to having your own show or being a child star like the others you met. If Kelly Clarkson tuely believed she had talent (which she does im not saying she doesnt) but if SHE BELIEVED IN HERSELF why go on AI?? it was for instant fame... otherwise she could have gone to a recording studio and made it honestly other than through a cheesy show.... I STRESS THAT I LOVE KELLY N HER MUSIC I JUST DISLIKE AI SO MUCH!!! So yes i believe she should thank them because they were the ones to get her where she is with no real work from her cept the use of her voice and going to auditions.... I would like her even more if she had made it ALL on her own with no help form ele

The situation is kinda different when Kelly Clarkson won her grammy.. I think it was a grammy for the 2nd album and not the 1st album. The 1st album is great and it has American Idol written all over it. Had she won for that album, then she should thank American Idol. Right now, since she became really huge because of her talent and hard work, I really don't thnk she needs to thank american Idol. American I dol is just a stepping stone and does not guarantee lasting stardom (Reuben Studdard anyone?). In Carrie Underwood's case, since she won an award for her 1st Album courtesy of American Idol, it is appropriate to thank American Idol.

She shouldn't have to mention AI every time. It may have been what got her started but it is not what is keeping her around.
