Last Wednesday, my husband was told "your mother will not make it through the night" She was expected to die. My husband left, and went to Alabama, where she is hospitalized and was expecting to find her dead. Well it is now three day's later, she is still alive and doing better. I am so thankful, that she is getting better, she was at death's door and she came back. Is it a miracle? I would like to think so.

My experience was not so positive. When I received a call saying that my father might not make it through the night, I was on the next plane I could catch in time! I flew through the night and was there the following early morning. I was so scared that I would not be there. But I did make it in time. I held onto hope that he would get better. I told myself that he would get better. But when I got there, I knew that he would not. Well, that was his last night. He declined through the night and I was woken up to say my goodbyes. It was one of the hardest things I have had to do! So, when I hear those words, I have complete empathy for any who hear them! I am happy to read that your husband's experience with those words are better. But I am sure they are words that he dreads ever hearing again.

I am so sorry to hear that soldenski. I wish things could have turned out better for you. But at least they let your son in. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. Hang in there. Hugs to you.

Well unfortunately he has heard them again. My son and husband flew to Alabama this morning because again, she is not expected to live through Tuesday. I just talked to him and he said they are not giving her anymore medicine, taking her blood pressure, blood sugar, nothing. She is in a hospice room and they do not allow children, so they did not was my five year old son to see her but luckily, they let him in. I mean at this point, what harm is there in letting him in. I understand about germ's and infection's, but she's not even getting any med's.

Sometimes when a patient takes a turn for the worse, we as healthcare professionals don't know what to think. Especially if they are already comprimised with bad infections with mrsa, sepsis, or vre. Sometimes if they are really at deaths door...and aren't in their 60's to 90's and bedridden...yes, that is a miracle. Usually a 60 yr old who is bedridden, deathly ill, and comes back...miracle....

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately, my mother in law passed away on Tuesday. She was a great woman, and I loved her so much, and will miss her.
