As a website designer I also implement search engine optimization strategies for drawing target traffic from search engines. Before I ever create a website for a client I get them involved in the creation of their website content, because content is king and will remain that way as long as people are hungry for information. I think search engines, at least the major ones, are relying less on meta tags and more on the actually content on the page. If you do pay attention to meta tags make sure they are inline with your sites theme and keywords. Create individual pages for important keywords instead of stuffing all your pages with the same ones. Make your pages unique, which means you need to compare what you have to your competition and do better than them without just copying them. Start this way and you can draw free traffic from search engines. Next I would start to create unique articles that you can get published in article directories. Making sure that at the end of the article you have a little resource block about you and a link to the web page you wish visitors to see. Make sure you link is on the topic of the article. I hope that helps you. Have a great and prosperous new year.

You could join a traffic exchange site. You sign up and give your webpage address. You visit other peoples webpages and they visit yours. It's easy and gets you some notice.
