What do you think about Israel ?

Hi, I think there is a lot of ignorance in this debate. As I understand it, Jews have been in the area since the majority were scattered in Biblical times. That immigration has been going on since 19th century. That there was no Palestine before the British coined the term after they captured the area from the Ottomans in the world war. That much land was purchased by Jewish settlers from Ottamans and Arabs. That Israeli settlements lived initially in peace without any militia until Unprovoked Arab attacks That Israel just wants to live in peace That Arab aggression is fuelled by a hatred of Jews and desire for conquest That European press is biased against Israel Having said that I am often appalled by Israeli violence especially where civilians are injured but much as I abhor this violence, I honestly cannot see what alternative is open to Israel. What happens when Israel tries to make peace, the Palestinian leaders agree then get there thugs to start terrorist attacks for which they hypocritically take no responsibility. That any peaceful initiatives by Israel are seen as weakness and therefore lead to an upturn in Arab aggression. all the best urban

My family and I are in the process of moving to Israel, we hope to be making Aliyah sometime in June. My oldest who is 23 was studying there 3 years ago. He was in the Israeli army as well for a short period of time and plans on returning after he finishes with school. My 17 year old daughter wants to stay here in the States for the time being but will eventually go with Birthright. I would love for the two of you to hook up.

I have been there several times and think that it is an amazing place but some people have closed minded ideas regarding customs and the way things are done. You don't walk into someone's house, kick your shoes off and make yourself at home ... you have to get the feel of things and the proper way to act when you are in a foreign country and this is something that most people aren't willing to do. I stayed with an amazing family that showed me hospitality, educated me on the local customs and opened their hearts and home to me. I have nothing but good things to say about your country. ... shalom aleichem ...

Ok, it is just my opinion here. I believe Israel actions are wrong. The Palestinians have lived many years in this land and the the Israelies, if my information is correct, started to come as immigrants in the beginning of the 20th century and after the 2d world war started to kill Palestinians in order to make room for themselves. I also felt very negatively touched by the Israel attacks against Lebanon last summer. I guess you do not like my opinion, but this is how I understand the whole Palestinian problem. Mind you, I have absolutely no problem with Jews and I am not Muslim. That's just how I view the situation

hi ilandri i just read your discussion to day any way before you read what i think about your actions are they good or bad aske your self way the plastinian keep fighting an struggling all this years what this palastinian child have done so the israeli soldjer have to kill him.. next year you are going to the army. are you ready to kill an armed cheldren and women.if you cane answer this questions thin you will know what pepole think about your country.

I was allowed many years ago to go on a trip to Isreal. When I left I felt I was leaving home. I am not jewish but that is just the way the country made you feel. Everyone we met were kind. We walked all over and took buses to other places. I would love to visit again so my husband can see what I saw. There is good and bad in every country.

i would love to visit Israel!! but i dont have the money to do that now. i hope i will sometime in the future. i am a stay at home mom so i dont have money for anything lol!

I like israel if theres one country id like to visit it would be your country. And besides it's where holy bible came from. The holy bible is your country's history right?
