6And Ioudas took a woman for Er the firstborn of him, to whom a name Thamar. 7And Er firstborn of Ioudas was evil before the Lord, and God killed him. 8And Ioudas said to Aunan:
“Enter to the woman of the brother of thee and marry her and raise a seed to the brother of thee.”
9And Aunan knowing that the seed will not be to him, it happened when he was entering to the woman of the brother of him, he poured out on the ground not to give seed to the brother of him. 10And he manifested evil before God because he did this, and He killed this also. (Genesis 38:6-10)
If God killed Aunan for doing this (withdrawal), does God approve abortion?

Berta, God gives us wisdom and freedom to choose. God wants us to do in accordance with His will. If we use such freedom of choice to do whatever we like to do, we will be punished. Study the Word of God very well and if you go on with abortion, you will suffer whatever consequence of your act, not anyone else. Whatever act we do, we reap the fruits. May God bless you.

Parts of the Bible has already been taken out and deleted , by those whom put themselves in the position to do so. My wonder is God gave us the free choise ,he gave us sience and he wants the best for us.Im not sure he would jugde me if a had an abortion.i.m sure He would comfort me in my grief

To prevent population explosion, the government (Philippines) established the Commission on Population and personnel are sent out to teach couples on various ways of birth control, one of which is withdrawal. It's good that these verses on the Holy Bible so that people concerned may study it carefully if we are to follow God.
Abortion is not yet legalized in the Philippines but if God hates withdrawal, the more He hates abortion. God specifically commanded "Thou shall not kill." Even if the embryo is still in the womb, it has already life for God says life is in the blood.

Never, God never approves of abortion. Life begins before conception! Both "germ" cells of reproduction already are alive.

The Holy Bible is complete. Everything about you is there. I hope you find time to listen to God and not just rely on yourself. God loves you, find how He does. May God bless you.

I am a Roman Catholic. (So my views about the Bible and this passage pertain to the Roman Catholic point of view). I do believe that the Bible is God's word and it contains the truth. If God is love and merciful why do God appears to seek vindictive?
To understand the Bible we have to know who is its author and for whom it was intended, the audience and when it was written.
The Bible was written over a span of time, a couple hundreds of years and not in a short span of time. The Bible passed from the oral stage, where stories were passed from one generation to another verbally. Then with the invention of writing, certain passages were being written. Later on there was like an editor who put different passages in one book. So unlike today's books the Bible was not written by one author. You can say that the Bible especially the Old Testament and the book of Genesis included was written by a group of people with the inspiration of God.
God also revealed himself gradually to his people. That's why we find wars, killings in the Old Testament. It’s like explaining Maths and complicated sums to young children. You don’t explain Math’s Pythagoras theorem to a six year old but it is studied later on at school let say when he is 14 yrs of age. God revealed himself ultimately in Jesus Christ. So that's why Christians give a lot of importance to the New Testament. It does not mean that the Old Testament such as Genesis is not respected. It is still God's word!
Man is also a true author of the Bible. God is the primary author of the Bible, while man is his assistant, a secondary author. Christians believe that man was inspired by God, inspiration does not mean dictation, that God spoke his word and man wrote each word that he heard. God allowed man to use his talents, to write according using writing skills to convey God’s message to his nation. That's why man is also a true author of the Bible. Without man God's word could not be completed. God is the primary author because without his love and inspiration there would be no Bible, while man can be considered as a secondary author. It's like in films, there are the main actors but a film cannot be completed without secondary actors etc.
God views the unborn child as a person. Exodus 21:22-23: "If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,"
No the Genesis passage does not mean that God allows abortion.

I think it is imperative that we all come to the lord in our own way and that the new testament allows forgiveness that in the old testament was not given. Praise the Lord for the gift of Jesus and all that has been provided for us.

Bible is word of God and most of the Christians approve this, even if some did not agree,it will make not it worse, and it is considered as worlds' no.1 Seller is Bible, from this you have to understand its importance. You can accept this or reject this it is up to you and you may forfeit the chance of reaching the Heaven. If it is not word of God and the peace I get reading Bible, I will be the first person to hit you
(not with bad intention) in order you may understand the influence of the Bible.

So far as my knowledge goes, God cannot approve abortion as this will only lead to self destruction of this human race.
Hinduism though prefers to stay silent in this issue.

I don't think He approve abortion. Withdrawal is not yet a indication that a union of sperm and egg has been going on.Abortion is when a fetus has been living in the womb and you try to get rid of it.He doesn't approve of any in the bible.

Thanks for the question but quite frankly, I don't seem to find the connection between what Aunan did and abortion. I'm not sure too wether the issue of abortion can be settled in just one simple verse just like that, unless it is an express declaration rather than just inferences, valid or otherwise. Good point though. One prevents the life from forming in the womb, the other preventing the life from coming out.

God does not approve of abortion because there is already life and God said "Thou shall not kill." If God does not like withdrawal as He killed Aunan, God does not also like abortion. I believe in God and the Holy Bible as the Word of God. I believe what is in the Holy Bible.
