My 3 year old daughter and I had to pay bill and shop on day. I went to the bank took out $550.00 usd to do this and the teller handed me the enevlope with the money and with my ID inside. While in the store my child, while sitting in the buggy, went through my purse, playing, as I was shopping. Once I noticed it I almost passed out as I could not find the money. I searched the store for a hour as I dreaded the thought of telling my husband that I lost $550.00 in the store. I was sick and cried and cried. The only good thing was my ID was inside so if it were a honest person they would contact me, but honestly I did not expect that. I told my husband and he was not happy and I feel like a idiot. Then the nex morning the phone rang and I was then uplifted by the goodness of man. It was a nice elderly lady telling me she had our money. I was so relieved and danced in my kitchen. I asked the lady where she found it and said it was in the floor and she noticed it. I offered her a reward and she refused. She stated that she had to do what was right. I baked her cookies and went to visit her many times as she was alone. There is goodness in the world.

That is such a beautiful story! It is so true everything happens for a reason, that lady needed you in her life, and now you are. Sometimes God has to get our attention the hard way.

Thanks, I wonder if it was luck or that she was just a good person. I think a little of both.

I have never had anything returned to me but I have returned my fair share of wallets and cell phones to people that have lost them. I do all that I can to try and contact people if I find their things somewhere. If I find it at a store I return it to a manager so that I know it will be handled properly. I have always returned everything including money to people who have lost it. I would only hope that one day if it happens to me that someone would do the same.

Aww, that's a very nice story :] Perhaps you and that lady were meant to meet. I think everything happens for a reason and this didn't happen as a coincidence (and that it was such a nice lady who thought of returning it that found it). I did have something similar happen, while in school once, I brought this real expensive calculator which I had borrowed and was going to return it but the lady wasn't there in the morning or at first break. I left it somewhere and after the whole break ended, til the next lesson was going to start I remembered and I was instantly so stresssssed and panicked heaaaaps :O But I was indeed lucky because a boy found it and returned it to the teacher whom I'd had the previous class with. He told me that this boy wasn't a really goody sort of boy, but he was good because he returned it. How relieving it was. I'm glad that I didn't completely lose it and this tought me an important lesson. So I think now everytime I leave some place I'm sort of a bit paranoid, checking twice to see if I have everything and if i've left anything behind :P

I put my mobile phone on the roof of my car and drove off by mistake. I thought it was gone for good when I had a call on my home land line later from a chap who had found all the bits lying in the road, put them together, opened up the address book on the phone and rang 'home' He wouldn't accept a reward either.

Wow! That is a wonderful story! I am so glad you got your money back. I can't even imagine losing that much money... I would be heartsick too. There are still some very honest people in this world and I'm so happy that one of them found the money for you. Bev

It feels good to find something back after lossing. I once left a check in a book I returned in the library. I could not find the book in the shelf. After 2 weeks, I just tried my luck, I look for the book again and when I opened the book, my check fell. It feels so good that I found it again.

aOne time I lost my wallet in a pumpkin patch. Then some kid found it when he was looking for a pumpkin to carve. He gave it to his mom who gave it to the police who then called me. I got it with all of the money inside, which was only 10 dollars, and thanked them a lot. I went that same day and bought 2 pumpkins from the patch.

out of all the things ive lossed, all the times ive wished for it to be returned it has only been returned once. and that was for something i didnt no i had lost! i recieved a letter through the post informing me the police had somehting of mine so, intrigued, i rode on my moped down to the local statinog and was told a tax disc was their, i said i had recently sold a vehicle so it was probably that one and i no longer required it. i went back outside and looked at my moped...and thoguht to myself where did i put the tax disc for this one.... i looked the ped over for a good ten minutes then found a shard of splintered metal where i can only assume the tax disc affixed to. i went back inside the station and spoke to the lady at reception and she informed me she had put a destruction notice on the item and was now not sure what to do! it took me around 40 minutes and a meeting with the duty sergent to get it back! i felt a complete fool for not checking my bike first!

It's great to hear that you got your money back. It's so hard to find honest people nowadays so you're really lucky. It's also great to hear that you show your appreciation because not many people do that.

I have lost more cell phones than anything else. Every time I realise I have lost one, there is a sickening feeling that there is no need to even look because the person who mighty have it will never return it. At one point I left a phone in a taxi, and I knew the driver. The annoying thing is that he answered the call when I called. He did not say a thing only listened to me and then turned it off and that was the last thing I know about that phone. But this morning, something happened that really made me jump for joy. I bought a new phone two weeks ago and last night we went to celebrate the coming of the new year. When we broke off from the party this morning, I changed buses twice to get to my home. At home I realised that I had lost the phone again. When I called the number it started to ring and when it was answered, I said here we go again. But I heard a familiar voice and he was a friend of mine from another part of town. He told me he picked it up from one of the buses in the morning. He did not know the owner and was waiting to hear from them. I was very garteful to him. This is the first one returned to me after losing seven(7) sets. It is really a new year present for me.
