My dacshie runs in circles at times. He doesnt do it everyday. But I am not sure when, he just likes to go round and round for some reason. Is this okay or an abnormal behaviour?

I agree with the above poster, all the dogs I've known have seen it as a challenge to capture their tails, a life-time adventure, and in turn, running around in a circle.

He doesnt appear to be chasing his tail.
It is more like running around a small chose spot. I dont know why he does that. He pauses after a couple of rounds and at the sign of my tone or handclap, he again performs this.
Is it more like a trick???
I have no clue.

Most dogs like chasing their tails. (Running in circles) Nothing abnormal about it.

That's usual for dogs...not just for your breed. I have a Lab mix and she chases her tail all the time. I think they just do it cos' they can or they are bored.

LoL, my dachshund does that too, but only when she is happy and excited :} It's so cute :} I don't think it's abnormal.
Btw, if a dog, especially a puppy runs for his tail - it means he has those.. stomach parasites (I'm not sure how it should be said in English)
