Do you think it is better for Mothers to stay home and raise their children? It seems that children are in daycare and school more than at home anymore. I realize women that are raising children on their own have to work to provide for them, but what about if you are married. It seems most people spend more on daycare than you can actually make working. What are you opinions.

I work but my son is school aged and we do not require child care during the school year. When he was younger I stayed at home until he was about 2 1/2 and then I had to put him in daycare and go back to work. Many places it is impossible to make it on just one income. Summer care here is cheap and is less than 1/4 of what I make per week. My son liked being in child care when he was little and enjoys summer care. We had him out of summer care of a month last year and even though we did different activites every day, he missed playing with his friends at summer camp (we live in an apartment complex and there are no many kids around). I don't think people should feel bad for working if they need two incomes. Some people also just don't want to stay at home, they prefer to work.

I am a stay at home mom and it's difficult to make it on one income. But I am currently attending college to obtain a degree. I only have one child at home now and he's 18 months It's easier in some ways because I don't have to worry about finding a babysitter and I'm always here when my older two get home from school. When I do graduate, my youngest will be old enough for preschool and hopefully my income will be enough to where most of it won't go to daycare.
