I am currently about 80 pounds overweight and I am focusing on trying to loose some of the weight. I have noticed that since being overweight I am taking medication for all sorts of illnesses. Do you think being overweight causes other illnesses and if so what? and if you lost weight was your illness cured?

well at least some of the illnesses are due to being overweight. most people suffer from illness brought about by being overweight such as hypertension, and others.

I have seen that being overweight can lead to heart disease and diabetes. I know several people with these problems. It would be much better for them if they would loose some of the extra weight.

I believe being overweight can lead up to high blood pressure.I noticed that if I eat alot of junk i get bad headaches the very next day,but if I eat healthy and not that much junk my head does not hurt. That is such a good feeling for me.I mean my headaches were very bad.

What illnesses do you have? Yes it can cause illnesses such as diabetes, may aggrevate arthritis, back pain, liver problems, and lots of other problems. I am overweight too and I gained a lot of the weight that I had lost back for dumb reasons. And I do have a problem with my liver, not sure if my weight is an issue but I need to lose the weight and I am trying to now, so once I do I will let you know if there is an improvement with that issue.

I do believe being overweight does cause some illnesses such as diabetes, high cholesterol, body aches and pains (carrying extra weight), etc. I was overweight after giving birth to my two girls and it took a lot of hard work to get back to the healthy weight band... Even so, I couldn't seem to be able to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. :-( Anyway, I do believe staying within the healthy weight band is ideal. I believe in pre-emptive measures rather than cure... One thing that I can vouch for is that my body and bones don't ache after getting back to the healthy weight band. Doctors advice was that the aches were caused by the extra weight from the fat tissues that my body frame has to support.

I do overweight when I was still in school. Now I control what to eat and lots of exercise. Not for a good body though, just for a healthy body. Good luck.

Listen to the advice of your doctor. Yes, I believe being overweight causes illness to get worse and/or develop like diabetes and arthritis. I lost twenty pounds in the last seven months and my symptoms are remarkedly decreased and can now introduce exercise back into my routine. I hope to lose another thirty by summer and shooting for symptom free.

I think that being overweight does have negative effects, it can cause high cholesterol, high blood pressure, problems with your joints and bones along with other things. The best way to loose the weight is to make sure you eat 3 small meals a day, limit your proportions, stay away from soda and other high calorie drinks and drink lots of water.
