Foods you should eat on New Year's Day!

In the south, of the U.S., we have a traditon of eating Blackeye Peas for Good Luck and Cabbage for money on New Year's Day, of each year. Are there other customs in the north, or other countries, on this subject???

I live in south carolina and here the tradition is blackeyed peas for good lick as you say but collard greens for money instead of cabbage.

well my ex mother inlaw. used to make me a banana cream pie on new years day. (homemade) Because that is my birthday. But they also had a traditon of a dish called hoppin john. I think its made with black eyed peas but not sure
