Bush and God: what's the fuss about ?

The startled worldwide reaction to the reported comments of a Palestinian diplomat that George Bush explained that it was a "message from God " that convinced him to initiate the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, surprises me. In a recent survey, 60% of Americans polled believed that "Jesus Christ would be resurrected from the dead, within their lifetime". So, the world may scoff that that the world's most powerful individual makes life-and-death decisions on the basis of messages from a fictional deity, but this notion is not so alien to millions of Americans. This leaves more rational thinkers not knowing whether to laugh, or be very concerned about the immediate future of humankind...
