Do you dine out or eat in more?

Home Cooking - nothing like it

It seems as though with working moms and busy lives, more and more of us seem to move towards eating out or delivery much more than cooking at home. Do you dine out/order out more or cook at home more?

true... or depending on how big of an eater you are you can buy 6 bagels, some frozen dinners, and such and be snuggled inside to eat. Although a lot of people prefer dining out when they're alone because they like the company of others while dining too.

I tend to dine out more since I have not taken the time to learn how to cook but I think that very soon that I will try and learn to cook as it would be healthier and less expensive to be able to cook. Dining out is a convenience when we are too busy to cook or we do not feel like doing dishes afterwards.

It varies for me, it depends on whats going on, my mood, how busy I am and how much money I have in my pocket to spare. At times it seems we eat out more and then other times we go through spells where we eat in more. I go through spells where I like to cook and then I go through spells where I don't even want to look at the stove. So my mood has a lot to do with it too. I think its more healthy probably to eat in but when your busy healthy seems like the last thing on your mind.

Eat at home - Eat At Home
I am a stay at home mom and I also run my own in-home daycare. We only eat out about twice a month. Eating out with 2 kids of our own really cuts into the budget. Even McDonalds is just under $16.00 USD. Do that a few times a week and your budget is gone! I can actually make quite a few meals at home for that same $16.00.

since we grew the kids, we have managed to eat out twice and on each occasion my wife was on the phone checking on them every half hour or so, now we just eat at home much less organisation required

Oh I definately cook at home more...we only have take out maybe once a month...mind you I am a SAHM so I have the luxery of cooking full blown homeade meals whereas a lot of ppl are two income families and just dont have the time..of course there are ways around that though...Even on days when I'm not up to cooking we eat in..either my hubby will cook or we'll have a "fend for yourself" night (both my kids are old enough to cook etc)

i personally can agree with you on this one i have so much time on my hands at home i look up recipes and cook them we save a lot that way but if i dont feel like cooking they will go for themselves the 2 small children i maybe opened up some beef ravioli or peanut butter and jelly sometimes they prefer that i love cooking its an art to me

I must admit, I am one of the people who dislikes cooking. I have all the time in the world, but as there is just hubby and myself left at home, I order takeaway meals as often as possible. I would probably cook our main meals twice a week and I always cook a small snack for myself in the middle of the day. I don't really like dining out too much except on special occasions.

During the week I would usually cook. At the weekend we might have a take away. We would take the children to McDonalds maybe once or twice a month, and we try to get out for a meal ourselves (myself and my husband) once a month.

I think as a family it's a lot more expensive to dine out but when you get older and it's just you or just you and a spouse I think it's a lot cheaper probably because there is less waste. Although I dunno, I think I could live on pretty much bagels and juice for breakfast, those real mashed potatoes for dinner and be happy! lol That's a lot cheaper than eating a dinner out!

i eat in more saves a lot of money you can save 1,000's a year and not only that you spend even more at work as well breakfast and lunch thats too much money in a month it adds up yearly along with eating out sometimes its ok to eat out sometimes like 2-3 out of a month. when i had to be at work at 6:30am and got off at 2:00pm i made it on time before kids got home from school. if you ever have time like on the weekends make a menu first. (1)before you go to work you can take out what you going to cook for that day,(2)cook for that weekend:(you can cook 3-4 different types of meats and spagetti/w meatballs or lasgna lable them put them in alluminum pans and freeze them)only thing that you have to do is make rice, mashed potatoes etc. makes some veggies and you are done.if you have a rice cooker this is easier then over the stove you can also purchase a crock pot you can put your meat potatoes and veg all in this pot before you go to work and set it and when you come home from work your food is done and less time in the kitchen. you can spend more time with hubby or kids homework buy some paper plates plastic spoon and forks so when everyone is finish with dinner you can throw everything in the garbage less time washing dishes and you can relax and get ready for your next day at work without feeling groggy.

my wife and i definitely cook at home more than go out. we used to go out a lot but most of the restaurants in our are were decent at best. so we'd end up paying a lot of money for something we could have made better at home for a third of the cost. we still eat out once in a while but usually at places we know will be worth our hard earned money.

We rarely eat out. Its too much trouble to put your clothing on after enjoying time in ros and the warmth of home, to go out into the cold. We also have lots of recipes to explore. I just found my Lebanese cook book. Once we get enough ingredients I am sure we will be messing up pots andpans with ouar experiments!

I use to dine out about 3-4 times a week, the tables have certainly changed, since i can't hardly afford to eat out these days. I usually try to make enough food so that i only have to cook, maybe 2-3 times a week. Every once in a blue moon, i'll have mcdonalds, or pizza. Red lobster and TGIF Fridays is out though. Can't afford it anymore.

I don't know my other half & me used to order out quite a bit on the weekends. But now we find ourselves cooking more at home on the weekends. I know I used to cook during the week & then the weekend was our take out days. But now we tend to order out once every two weeks. I find you can buy so much more at a grocery store & make things yourself for so much more cheaper. And if you find some really different recipes you can always try something new so that you don't get bored. And I'm all about trying new foods & trying to make them myself. But I know that we've been cooking more at home recently. But when we don't feel like cooking we will turn to ordering out, but not as often as we used to. I find ordering out to be so expensive these days. And sometimes not worth the amount you end up paying for the food you order. But that's just me. But it's also nice to treat yourself every once in a while as well though.
