We just got our electric bill, and I was a little surprised. I think it's high, but wondering how it compares to other people's. We do have all electric appliances, and electric heat. Our bill was $234. Is that high compared to where you live?

How big is your home? In our old apartment (1100 sq ft with vaulted ceilings, 3rd floor - all the heat went to the high ceilings) our winter bill ran about $180. We moved mid-October to an 1100 sqft, 2nd floor apartment (9 ft ceilings) and our first "normal" bill was $90, but we have someone home almost all day and my husband stay up until 1am so there are always lights or TV or something running. I have a friend who has a 1600 sqft home and rarely runs the heat and her bill is $80! My Dad was griping about his bill recently becuase they just moved into a new home. There bill was $200 with electric everything. They have 2100 sqft.

Our house is 1400 square feet. It's an old house we've been remodeling, and I'm now thinking it's probably a pretty good bill. We've done a lot of insulating, and installed new windows.... and it is winter in ND....so I guess it's not bad.

Its very much high because in cold days I pay about Rs.500 only which is very less than yours.may be its the rate of your country and is too high .
