How are you about hygiene? Some would say I have a phobia about it but what things do you do to keep yourself from germs? Like me, when I eat out, I always use a napkin to pick up the slat and pepper to us them. I don't want to touch the shakers and then eat because there is no telling if the last person had washed their hands. And when I go to the bathroom at a store, I always wash my hands and then use a paper towel to open the door. I saw a commercial one time where a woman opened the door with her foot to keep from touching it. I laughed about that cause it would be something I would do if there was no paper towel. So what do you do?

I am a very clean person and like to stay that way, but when I have to get down and dirty I like to get cleaned up again, immediately. I do not want to smell of body odor at all. I am the type of guy that wipes his mouth after every single bite of food, pretty much. I have seen and smelt too many dirty people that don't need to be that way. When I was in my early twenties I would come home from work really sweaty and in my opinion smelly but my girlfriend would never let me get cleaned up before making out. She said that it turned her on. Yuck. She smelled great though so I lived with it. :) I have taught classes where students would come to class with body odor that was obviously more than a day old. No need for that at all. If you have no water at home, then use the restroom at a gas station but clean yourself up. I don't have a phobia about germs and I have even picked up things I have dropped on my kitchen floor and ate them. I was raised on a farm things like that don't bother me. Now if I go in a restaraunt and it's dirty that a whole different story. I just won't eat there. I do however have to keep food off my face and hands. I don't want others to think I am dirty or a pig.

I have also picked up things that 've dropped on my floor and ate it too. But I know what's been on my floor but I wouldn't do that on someone elses floor. Maybe my mom's floor cause she is really clean.

Proper hygeine to the point that you're not unkempt and having body odour is essential. It's a common courtesy in a civilized situation. BUT, hygeine to the point that you're scared to touch things with your hands is a little obsessive. Humans have survived 10s of 1000s of years and only in extreme cases has daily contact been unhealthy - and that's usually because of our interaction with animals (pig and bird flu, plague from rats). Paranoia about germs and cleanliness is propagated by companies that want to sell you stuff. Even showering every day isn't neccesary ALL the time. And you know what happens if youre never around germs and building antibodies to them? You have a weaker iummune system so you're more susceptible. not good for someone old/young or sick from something else.

Yeah, I can see what you're saying..basically you can me "too clean". I think we do need to be able to fight off bacteria. The reason I do what I do (salt and pepper and stuff) is I'm just trying to cut down on catching a virus.

I am one of those people who tries to avoid germs at all costs. I find I am always doing things to prevent germs from spreading. I know that I am very self conscious when it comes to how clean my body is, but also how clean the environment I am in is. I find whenever I go out in public I make sure to do things to avoid having germs spread. Some of the things that I have done to keep myself away from germs are as follows.. I know that I tend to wash my hands quite often. A large majority of the time if I touch something that I don't consider to be clean, I will wash my hands. other times when I am handling food or after I have gone to the washroom I will make sure that I wash my hands afterwards. I find to many people these days don't wash there hands before serving supper or sitting down to supper. And I know that I on the other hand make sure that me & my other half have clean hands before sitting down to eat. I have also done things such as taking tissues or toilet paper with me when I am going out in public. For example if I am entering a bathroom, or some other place I always keep in mind how a large majority of people.. Will not wash there hands when grabbing these handles to enter a place.. So I will grab a tissue or a piece of toilet paper from my purse & sometimes will even use it to help me open up the door. I don't think a lot of people understand how germs are being transferred right to your very own finger tips.. Because of peoples carelessness. I have also even carried purrell with me when I am going out in public. Or even anti-bacteria wipes. I've done this quite often when I have gone grocery shopping. I know that when I handle fruit or am picking up a lot of the products off of dirty shelves.. Or shelves that carry a lot of dust. Afterwards I will use these anti-bacteria wipes to clean my hands afterwards. I have even gone as far as to take an anti-bacteria wipe to wash off the germs from the cart where people put there hands to push the cart. It makes me feel a lot better about pushing a cart instead of being concerned on whether or not germs have been spread to my hands. I know that when I eat at a restaurant I have even gone as far as to carry my own fork.. As silly as this may sound I would much rather carry my own fork then using a fork.. That I don't know if it has been washed, or even cleaned properly. Anyone in the restaurant business can pretend to look at a fork & think that it's clean.. When in actuality it isn't. I would much rather use my own fork as I know where it has been.. And if it has indeed been cleaned before putting it in use. I find with a restaurant you don't know these things.. Also I've even done things such as bring my own towels to a hotel that my other half & me had decided to stay at.. Because even though a towel may seem or smell clean, it not always is sometimes. I would much rather use my own towels to dry myself off then use something that I don't believe to be necessarily clean. We've actually stayed at hotels before where the towels seemed clean & we have found spots on the towel.. That have helped to show that they weren't at all washed before our stay.. After having experiences such as that.. I have made sure to bring our own towels. As well whenever I handle money.. I make sure to use anti-bacterial wipes or purrell to get rid of the germs.. And then shortly after as soon as I come across a bathroom I will use soap, as well as hot water to wash off the purrell to make sure that all the germs have been washed off. I find so many people in this day & age don't realize how dirty money truly can be.. In conclusion.. I do all of these things that I have listed to avoid germs so that I don't come in contact with them.. I know that sometimes we all are unable to get all of the germs off of us.. But at least by trying to do so you can at least say that you had tried. And that I had at least tried to take the necessary precautions to stop germs from spreading. I know that I try to help others to avoid having germs being spread as well.. So I will remind them to wash there hands.. Or try to practice the same precautions that I take to avoid these types of things from spreading! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Hey U r actually I like my husband. Yes I think U are too much hygenic. He is also same.He too doesnot touch anything with hand, if he does so he immediately goes to toilet to wash his hands. WE all laugh at him.I think I am also hygenic but not to this extent. So try to avoid being too much hygenic as this may irritate other poeple and u will end as a laughing subject for them.

I work at a cash register and some of the people that come in are disgusting. They smell awful, are dirty and you would not believe some of the places they take their money out of... Their bra, their shoes and even the front of their pants. I am constantly washing my hands.

I do not blame you for doing this as I have a friend that teaches in a school for the very young and she was always getting pink eye and colds while at school and during her time off not one thing hit her. I suggested her washing her hands more at the school and also the door handles with a disinfectant etc, this in turn reduced her colds and she never had pink eye since then either. (3 years now) Good hygiene is tops and it should be a thing in restaurants etc to supply a sterile cutlery and dish as well as condiments to the customer at the table where the food is to be consumed.

yeah, just today I saw this guy sneeze, put his hand to his mouth and then read=ch out and shake another guys hand. Now, that' is just asking for it. To have spit on your hand from someone else is gross and very "germy".

the things you mention here seem strange to me and slightly over the top but its not untill you take a step back to look at things that you realise that you might have the better idea! the only thing i do that i can notice in this context however if that i always wash my hands before going to the toilet as well as afterwards! theres no telling what you have touched, whos hand you have shaken and what they have touched, i dont want that on my parts thankyou very much, and for the time and effort it takes to wash your hands its not even worth thinking about what could happen if you didnt!

I always have to brush my teeth twice a day otherwise I feel like my mouth is very unclean. Even if I stay at someones house my toothbrush HAS to be with me otherwise I end up feeling sick! In a way it's a good thing that I like to keep my teeth clean but now and again it really gets on my nerves!!
