How did you start with drumming? And how are you now?

I started 4 years ago. I was 15. It was the first band rehearshal when I saw drums for the first time in my life! A boy, a bit older than me, showed me some kind of stupid rythm, which sounded like some kind of trance music. Anyway, I started to listen to music and picked new interesting rythms pretty fast. Nobody taught me! After 3 years I became a drumteacher in a town where I live and then I realised, that when you teach something you are good at, then you become even better! So how did you start drumming, how old where you? What are you doing now? Do you have a band? Do you have won any prizes? Ect.

I started in sixth grade, so I was 12 ish. I pretty much started the drums after dabbling in a number of different musical disciplines, and the only thing I could really get a grasp on at that age was the drums. I could deal with all that reading music, there are different notes, crap. And I thought that the drums were cool thanks to the likes of Zack Hanson. Thankfully I have grown to respect the drums and learn about the technical aspects. I have been playing for seven years now. I played a lot in high school, I was in pretty much every school band, and I had a guitarist friend and bassist friend that I used to jam with. Now I'm in a jazz band at my college, but I don't play nearly as much as I would like too. It's too bad because I'm not really enjoying it anymore, and I'm not finding this band fun. I would really like to get into teaching lessons though but I feel like I'm not good enough to be telling people what to do.

i started 3 years ago, i'm 18 back then, that was the first time i play drum with my band, back then i play second guitar in the band, because we dont have drummer, i was told to took the position, to think the first song we play, i always want to laugh, my playing was so bad that we all laugh very hard after playing that, starting there i play drum until now but my playing still hasn't improved much because i don't have drum set and i only practice at a rent studio once every two weeks..

I started in elementary school, we had music exploration and the drums called to me. From then on I just keep progressing. After a while i got my own drumset and then started playing in some bands. As for now I'm just playing by myself and honing my skills. I love the drums cant go a day without sitting behind em and shredding.

I started 13 yrs ago, i was 9. My parents sent mo to summer music class. I learned but wasn't interested at all till i turned 15. Many of my friends that time were forming bands and i was invited to play. I've been with 7 bands and im currently trying to teach starting off with our neighbor. Just to see if i'll be good at it.

I started playing the drums when I was about 12, I just never played them on a drum set. I played my first drum set on Christmas when I was 15-years old. I didn't get far at all until I joined my first band. After that I just took off. I don't believe that there is any better way to better yourself than playing with different people and always listening to different styles of music and incorporating some of those styles into your own. It's all about being original.
