I know of several parents who feel it is ok to give their teens beer or other alcohol at home. the thought is," I'd rather they learn about it at home than on the street." Is this ok by you? It is still against the law where the drinking age is 21 (Nearly all 50 states in the US).

Here in Australia the legal age to drink is 18 however i think it should be 21. Anyways we allowed our eldest daughter to have a drink here at home before she just recently turned 18. As you said many parents would rather their child have a drink at home then learn about it on the street, i think it worked here, we let her have a drink occassionally within moderation. We started to let her go to the occassional party where we knew acohol would be present, being 18 first "Real" party we allowed her to take a 6pack of UDL cans, by the time she came home and it was some hours later, she returned with 4 cans, i was so proud, she had learnt that it is ok to have a drink in moderation, and to be a responsible social drinker. Whilst a lot of her friends were paraletic, throwing up, ect , she did what she knew was right.
