Yes, I do alot of OAMC. I have to. I have major medical problems and never know when I will be able to cook. So I cook when i am able and freeze it for use when i am not able. This keeps me from stressing out so much when I get sick. I know that my husband wont have to do all the cooking. He works so hard at his job, he dont have time to do my jobs too. I have also found that making my own mixes such as homemade biscuick, cocoa mix, cake mix, and other mixes help out alot too. I make them in large batches and store them in ziploc bags or large plastic containers

Could you share your recipe for the cocoa mix? My kids go through a canister of cocoa mix every week.

I have never tried it myself, but I've read friend's experiences and it seems like a fairly involved process that requires a bit of an investment to get started. You have the initial cost of all the food, a supply of tupperware for storage, possibly needing a chest freezer to store it all, pots and pans large enough for big portions, etc. It also seems that it would be very challenging if you don't have a kitchen with a lot of counterspace (like me). What works best for me is just to make double portions of favorite meals (spaghetti sauce, vegetable soup) and freeze half of it. It's not quite once a month cooking, but I usually have four or five meals I can pull out of the freezer if I don't have time to cook.

i would love to do this, even if i could do a whole week i would be happy. i just have a problem with leftovers. i will not cook until they are gone. and if they don't want to eat them the next day, then i don't cook. the worst thing for me is to waste food.

I once thought that I would try cooking my meals on a weekly basis and after trying it just once, I gave up. I prefer freshly cooked meals over ones that have been frozen after preparation. I do not like the flavor as much as freshly cooked.

I have heard of people who have done this and have always wanted to try it because I think it would get my dinners better planned and organized-saving time at the dinner hour. There is a place nearby where you can go in and choose 12 meals to make and freeze and they supply all the supplies for each recipe (from a list) but you do pay extra for this type of service
