spitting

i would just like to know peoples views on spitting, i was bought up with the view that spitting of any kind was dirty and rude, but see so often school children taking it in turns to spit on the ground in front of them, obviously not all children do it, but when footballers spit on the field i wonder if they realise what an example they are setting to kids that adore them

It definately is a guy thing... A thing that I truly can't explain myself, but I'll try... I think it's a part of guy mentality to be able to spit well... I remember having spitting contests in baseball (this may gross you out) like who could have the longest dripper on the fence or who could spit the farthest type of thing... As we grow up it is a natural function for getting rid of mucous as no man carries around a kleenex, so we spit...

I agree with you that spitting is dirty and rude, I have never spat nor have any of my children, I was bought up with manners and I find spitting very offensive. I don't think that footballers realise that they are setting a bad example, maybe someone should inform the football association? I do think that people that spit are repulsive, to me there is no reason to spit,if you have flem in your throat, use a tissue. :)

thankyou for your response, i am really glad that you have taught your children manners, they don't cost a thing perhaps they can teach some of those children that spit, a thing or two

My mom hates it when I spit! I actually wanted to share with you that the NFL is aware of spitters, but only when they are spitting on an official or another player... Most of the time it results in a fine and disciplinary action...

OH, I hate it, hate it, hate it!!! That's one thing that my kids know will get their little butts in trouble!!! IT's dirty and nasty and it's something they know they don't need to do all, let alone, in front of me!And I don't think they realize and I don't think they would really care, probably a force of habit thing. YUCK!
