Japanese soup

I'm going to go try and make some Japanese style soup in a few minutes. We have seaweed and some interesting mushrooms to put into it. It's my first attempt so wish me good luck. My boyfriend made some last night and it was pretty good, so hopefully I won't poison him when he gets in from work.

Thanks Jimmy. It was delicious. I took a photo, so hopefully I'll get to 500 points here some day and come back and post it.
The Miso paste was a little confusing. The directions only told me how to make 1/2 cup of water with 1 Teaspoon of miso. So I had to guess how much to add for a whole pot of soup. It tasted fine though. I put some mushrooms I got from the Asian store into it as well as shrimp, broccoli, albacore fish flakes, roasted seaweed, and some other things into it.
