Is Pat Robertson mentally ill?

Okay, seriously... What is up with Pat Robertson? For those of you who haven't heard of him, his is a raving lunatic who claims to get messages from God (that end up mostly wrong) about elections, storms, terror attacks, etc. He has also suggested that the US assassignate Hugo Chavez and claims to be able to leg press 2000 lbs. Somehow though people keep sending this lunatic money... He even attempted to run for President back in 1988 and had at least 3 or so million people backing him on that... Of course then that maybe changes my question a little because the more I think about it, the less there is a problem with him and more an issue with those of us who enable this man so much time infront of a microphone and camera. So, is Pat Robertson insane or are those who throw money at and follow him insane? Or is it both? Which is worse? The leader of a cult of personality or the rank and file members who are essential for this nonsense to exist?

Hmm, I don't know. I heard the last thing he said and honestly I have heard stranger things from other people and no one threw a fit over them. I think people go after those that claim to be religios and just wnat for them to do soemthign wrong so they can trash them.

I think it's less of wanting him to do wrong and more of not wanting him to do things to abuse people's faith and trust in him (and in Him). There are many people who are religious and do great things. Unfortunately there are also those who use the faith of others to profit. This man has a lot of followers who believe him when he says God told him this or God told him that. He and his organization try to potray him as someone who is an authority on God and then uses his reach and influence to suggest people drink a certain "Age Defying Shake" (which GNC is no longer selling, but our now being sold at PatsShake.com along with oatmeal raisin bars). If you head over to www.cbn.com you can read the "Open Letter from Steve Schultz on Pat Robertson" trying to defending Pat's claim. Basically it is giving Pat the Prophet (or profit depending on how you look at it) an out. God told him it will happen, but God might change his mind. How convenient? Too bad God didn't tell Pat what kind of people he was dealing with to set up his for profit gold mining company in Liberia. (see Freedom Gold Limited)

I will go look at the site you gave. I think I heard what you are talking about and thought it was weird but I blew it off. I didn't think it was that much of a big deal. I do think it is a problem if a lot of people are following someone who is out there. These same people need to go back and read their bible, they are putting this man above God and that is aginst the 1st commandment.

Ok I just read the whole things and I don't see anything wrong with what he said. I have heard simaliar things on the radio show coast to coast am www.coasttocoastam.com I think people beileve we are coming up to the final days. I think a lot of people think a lot of people will die and there will be a huge war. I don't think praying to GOD that it doesn't happen isn't a horrible thing.
