I teach English in Thailand and I have a major problem. I have one class that is made up of students, age 14 to 15, who the school considers to be the worst students in the whole school. It is not because they are stupid, but they don’t like school and don’t want to learn. The other teachers tell me not to worry and write them off but I can’t. How can I get their interest? What make a teacher you like? Why don’t you like some teachers? I really need some ideas. If you have any advice to pass on to my students I will copy it and give it to them.

That is a tough situation there. Honestly I think you need to ask them what they want to do when they grow up or might want to do when they grow up, and try to tie the importance of english to their goals or dreams. Also if you can get someone who is popular, such as a singer or sport star, come and talk with them about the importance of english.

Hi iam a still a student, the most important thing for a teacher to do is to make the class interesting. Students normaly dont like teachers who just come read the lession and go. Teach will a little fun. be friendly. Do some fun activities. Once the student starts liking your class they will listen you.
