Nigeria and Scam

Unfortunate but very true, Nigeria and Scam are two synonymous terms. This has caused a major concern to me because it robs us, the honest and incorrupt Nigerians of our good public image. This has occured in a number of chat rooms and discussion forums, that is, I've had several instances whereby I tell people where I'm from (which happens to be Nigeria), and then I get a response like "oh, the people of scam", or I get no response at all. That's really sad, but at least, I expect a positive opinion or reaction towards me, a Nigerian from the beautiful web-based community (myLot).

I am not narrow minded enough to think that everyone from nigaria is scamming the problem i have is, i sell alot on ebay and i have had 10 auctions which i have had to relist due to people saying i stay in england but am sending the item to the following address which is my son in nigeria. Now i would not have a problem but they send fake paypal emails telling you that the money has been sent. Now out of kindness i emailed back saying that paypal have no money, to my suprise they sent me a email saying paypal are holding the funds until i send the item and if i do not send item then paypal will make a dispute with me. Now i no this is not all of nigeria but you have to admit it does make a black mark on your country.

Thanks, all these are the sort of the things I hear of everyday, even within the country and do you know that kind of makes me want to leave this place and never return? But at the end of the day, I think we, the Nigerians are the ones that have to do the repairing.

Exactly it is not fair but it is the full country who will have to work together and get rid of these con artists. Good luck my friend.
