As someone who is right now feeling the pinch of a very tight, even negative, budget, I really identified with the family in this movie. Wil Smith and his real life son are amazing in this movie. One can feel the empty helpless feeling of homelessness and poverty while watching this, as well as the triumph of family love and success. It was so frightening as the boy and his dad waited in line to get a room or a cot at the shelter, and we wonder whether or not they will sleep on the subway or in a warm dry room. Even people who are hard workers can become helpless and homeless at times, even when they have the best ideas and best intentions. Sometimes the resources just are not enough.

I didn't think it was that great of a movie. I think it could have been better. It wasn't horrible either. It was a good story line but not what I expected from the previews.

I didn't see too many previews myself. I was mostly interested in the interaction between Smith and his son in an acting situation. They were a convincing family, but I don't think it was just their natural interaction. You have to remember that the personalities of the two characters were much different than their real persons since they are not in fact homeless. It required a lot of good skill in their acting and the boy was amazing for his age.

Thumbs Up - thumb
I'm so glad you gave it a thumbs up! It does look like a good movie and I can honestly say it is rare, if ever, that I've seen Will Smith do something half baked. It does look very good.

Yes, I repeat...EXCELLENT. It was so funny to come home and then this morning see him as a young kid in Fresh Prince, which we do watch here sometimes on cable and satellite. I said to my son, Gee, he never taught his kid in the movie how to rap. hehe
