Do you feel you are looked down on by your family because of your job title?

I read an article in a newspaper recently. In the article a woman expressed how sad and hurt she felt because of the job she chose. She feels that her family values prestige and power. She has two sisters. One is a doctor and the other a nurse. While she happens to be a teacher. Anytime her parents invited friends over, they would always introduce the other two sisters and brag on them because of their job titles. Nothing much was said about her. Are you a person in this situation or know someone who is? Do you feel like your family values power and prestige?

I am a stay at home mom, I have had family members ask me to run here for them, do this and that for them, beings I don't work. They think I have all the time in the world. I get told alot by family you have more time then any of us, we all have jobs and you don't.I read an article awhile ago about SAHM's If they got paid the same wages for all the different jobs they did like chefs wage, nurses wage, and so on. They would have one of the highest paying jobs. Most people don't look at it that way. Our jobs may not bring home a paycheck every 2weeks, but it is very rewarding everyday. I don't know alot of people that can say that about their jobs.

Thank goodness my family values each other. My parents are so proud of my husband and my brother because they work their fingers to the bone so my sister in law and I can stay home and raise our children. My parents do not want their grandchildren going to a day care. We all find greater pride in talking about our children then our outside jobs.

The only thing I can say is that people should do whay they wanna do in life, why choose a career that you won't be happy with, I mean teachers make pretty good money, it may not be as much as a doctor or whatever, but still it's the happiness that counts.
