Hi kiddies, anyone had a bad experience with some large organization lately? What IS it about just about any large collection of people that causes them to disregard the realities facing their clients / customers / suppliers? And why does it get WORSE as they get LARGER? Is it just plain ARROGANCE, or is it something MORE?

I haad that experience with Dell. Their products were lame, and when I wanted my money back they fought me on it. Finally, they made good and refunded my money. It's the nature of money and how it affects people.

Well that's something I wouldn't have expected. I've never dealt with Dell but their (good) reputation precedes them - at least that's what I thought! I guess that's one reason they've been as successful as they have been - or is it BECAUSE they've been so successful that they now think they can treat people like that?

Just reflecting on the subject for a little while, it occurred to me that it's NOT the money that does it - although money is definitely the objective for a mega company like Dell. But Government departments are notorious for this kind of disrespect of their clients. And money isn't generally a factor for them. So maybe it's a POWER thing - ie, why does a dog lick itself? Answer - because it CAN.
