Why do people want to be famous?

Why do people want to be famous? What do they think is so great about it? Some people don't really have something special, like a really great talent. They are not that gifted, they just want to be know and famous. But why?? For example why do some people try so hard to be on television? Even when it means they have to make complete fools of themselves?

For most people I think the motive is obvious...money!!! Look at those idiots that do the Jackass movies. They are millionaires for doing DUMB stuff in front of cameras! I refuse to contribute, I will neither go to the movies to see them or rent them. I work a lot harder at my every day job and make a heck of a lot less! What is sad to me is how many people are actually lining those idiots' pockets with money!
