What's wrong with the big websites?

What would make things easier for you to look at the big heavy user websites? Do you think saturation level usage is just making them harder to browse, or there's too much material on them? Can you search them effectively, or would you like to see something more specific so you don't get every single entry with your search terms?

I think heavy user websites have so much content that sometimes it's too hard to find anything. Sometimes to find what you want you need to go through numerous options to get there and that can be very frustrating. I tend to give up. I think they should ensure that everything is properly categorized, oh and not have 5 pop-ups for example on each page as that can be very annoying to say the least!
