My daughter is datine someone who claims that he join the army but was hurt during basic training and was sent home and told to come back when he is ready. This seems like a story to me. He does have his miltary uniform and he talks about meeting with his recruiting officer. I suspect that he might be AWOL, is there a way to find out?

Frist you need to find out where he was taking his basic training at.......The call the squardon he was in. Ask to speak to the Frist Sergent of the Squardon he was in and that person can tell you if he is AWOL or not......If he is AWOL they can send someone to pick him up or he will be able to tell you if he has been in the Miltary or not....Or you can go down to the Army Recuiter in your home town and ask they have information on people who are AWOL..I know this because my late husband was in the Miltary and I also have a son, daughter and a daughter in law in the Miltary and my daughter in law is a Recuiter.....

Sorry I don't know but this person's advice above sounds good. I hope you are able to find out. Good luck.

I think she is right as my hubby is alsop an army personnel and you can enquire from the recruitment centre if he was at any time in the army. Just ask him in which unit he was and you can even write a letter to the commanding officer there to know or the school he was getting training at for his details.

First thing, you may not be able to find out. Privacy laws are in effect and the military doesn't have to cooperate with you, no matter what the reason, especially since you aren't family. You could try talking to the recruiter, but they don't have to tell you anything, and probably won't. They won't send him home to come back whenever he is ready. That's bupkus. He's either in or he's out. Maybe he is being processed out due to health reasons or not able to cut it. Maybe he is a huge liar and picked up a uniform at the Army Surplus shop. If you aren't military, it's easy not to know a "true" uniform from one that was picked up somewhere. Chances are he's lying. Big time. They aren't allowed to go home once they've signed the line. It doesn't happen that way. Something in his story is wrong.
