Do you eat your 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day? How many of us even know that we need to eat at least 5 servings per day? I know I only eat at least 3 and am going to make an effort to eat my 5. As when we eat the required amount of fruit and veggies, it helps with protection against cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis, and it even make our skin look better!

I try .. I really do try .. but there are quite a few veggies I don't like and loads of fruit I don't really enjoy eating .. One thing I did find helped enormously was to buy a good juicer ... it's so easy to 'drink' fruit and veggies ... far easier than trying to eat them ... and it's fun playing around and mixing the various fruit and veg to make new drinks .. I've even bought a couple of 'juicer' recipe books .. I'm trying to drink more of the 'detoxing' drinks for a few weeks to kick start a new year off ... but I must try and actually eat more too

what a good idea to buy a juicer but do you need to use a lot of fruit and veg to make a drink? Thanks for your reply

No, I'm bad. Especially now as my husband lost his job, and we hardly have food. Eating lots of rice and pasta. But, I used to eat the fruits and veggies that I should have to stay healthy.

If you have a blender and make the v8 type juices in the blender its pretty good. I use the fruits that way and I also use the veggies. You can add the seasonings but its better of course if its natural. I think it can prevent alot of illness and save your life. Its a good idea to mix them up and do it as often as you can. I also like making the smoothies. Its really awesome and they taste really good.

Yes, I easily eat that every day. I love eating fruit for breakfast and snacks. I eat salad everyday and lots of veggie dishes.

I'm very conscious about the amount of fruit and vegetables I eat daily, but I rarely manage to eat my 5 portions daily. I tend to have cereal for breakfast, a piece of fruit for my mid morning break, a sandwich for my lunch, and a cooked meal at the end of the day. I usually have 3 portions of veg with my tea, so that takes me up to 4 of the recommended 5 per day. I've tried to eat another piece of fruit at lunch time but I don't like to eat too much when i'm at work because I begin to feel bloated. So no, i'm afraid I just have 4.

I have no problem getting my share of fruits and vegetables because I'm a vegetarian :) I think even non vegetarians should give more attention to fruits and vegetables, you don't have to be a vegetarian to eat healthy food and it does taste good for most people.

I eat lots of apples! I keep them in the fridge, well its to balance out the chocolate I eat! I usually have a banana before I go to the gym to give me the energy, the carbs for a good workout. When I return from the gym I'll have an apple. Then later on before dinner I'll have another apple. I have two or three portions of vegetables with my dinner. Later in the evening I will munch on apples! So I definitely get my 5 portions each day. I also drink grapefruit juice and I love cucumber too, I can eat it raw, crazy I know but I can get a cucumber out of the fridge, cut a thick wedge off and munch on it! The more greens you can eat the better defence you have against cancer.
