I'm surprised there are no discussions in this interest! From what I've seen, FMA is everyone's favorite anime around here! ;) So tell me why you love this series. The characters? The story? The art? Let's get specific here, I don't want general answers. For me, it's everything. There are so many amazing characters in this series it's hard to pick favorites. There are the ones everyone loves - Ed, Hughes, Roy, Riza - and the not so well liked. I'll admit that Dante is one of my favorite characters. She's a brilliant villian, the ultimate puppet master who controls everything. And I adore Lust - the most human of the homunculi. I always wanted her and Scar to have their happy ending. And of course, the way the plot interweaves and keeps so much hidden. The story is amazing but the execution is what really pulls it all together.

Fullmetal *___* I love it *_* I opened one discussion about it, but it was under anime..=° What I love of HagaRen? Damn, it's hard to say...Everything is damned good. Characters are amazing, I love almost all of them but Pride or Dante...XD The plot is something of original, never tought of Alchemy in this prospective. I love homunculus, I love their story, how they act, even if they're like puppets in Dante's hands...I think that's one of the most beautiful anime I've ever seen.

Ahah, yes, you're right XD Dante is really a great character, but I can't like her...ù_ù I love Envy too much to love Dante XD *how a pitiful reason XD* I like Hohenheim instead...At first I disliked him for what he do to both Ed, Al and Envy..But...When I saw the episode where he said "Pinako, I can't find my home" I thougt that he was too coool..XD

Nobody likes Dante and she's one of my favorite characters! :D I just love her because she's so evil and such a manipulative woman... she was pulling pretty much all the strings. And when you think about it, the depths she was willing to sink to... look at what she did to her own son! Gah, I love villians. And the homunculi are awesome. Lust and Envy are my favorites.

I liked the story of Full Metal Alchemist and how the movie ends the series, especially since all the characters are quite unique and not very stereotypical. Having said that, however, I felt the manga (comic book) version of the story is even better. Al and Roy are my favourite characters (especially Roy and Riza (?) Hawkeye.. the anime was good, but I felt the movie was just made to somehow end the series.

I watch it because my husband is a fan. We have all three collectors tins, 51 episodes and the limited edition version of the movie. I enjoy the series because of the story line. I like Al the best - little kid trapped in the huge armor, what is not to love. I do wish that the series had a better ending than it did. Maybe they will add more on someday.

id agree with you about the ending... the brothers were finally together again but unfortunately, they left their childhood friend in their own world... sad huh?

Its a great anime, and I liked how they diverseged from the manga and did the whole "alchemist mistake = Hommonculi". Not to mention that the animation quality was top-notch, and aside from a bit of metaphysical wahhoey at the end, its one of the best animes ever made. The movie wasnt bad, although I didnt like the story, my dissapointment was overshadowed by the happiness of seeing those characters again, and until today Im following the manga, altough its relases are rather sparse.

Well. I knew it was popular, so I was interested in giving it a try. And there was you influence also, as a friend on LJ. I thought it was more of a kids thing, to be honest, so I doubted it for a while. But when I saw the first episode I realised it was going to be much more interesting. One of the things that draws me to an anime is the wacky moments. So, with FMA it was at the beginning when they're in the desert and Ed chases Al. It was just funny. But I already knew that it was a serious storyline. I like a good mix. What REALLY sold it for me (and my brother) was episode five. Just Roys Boys, particularly Hughes. But the moment when Farman went to look and see if there was a short guy with Al XD Pure Brilliance. The characters are amazing. The story is also very good. because it raises some good points and it really looks into the psychological side of things. How they affect people. And it's ability to flip between the scary, sad, funny and touching aspects of the story was just...superb. It really is a great anime. I loved the animation in the film.

i loved the show, and sort of sad that its over, but it had a good ending with the movie. the whole storyline was great and different. i liked the whole idea about alchemy and the different worlds. there were so many twists and turns in the plot and of course the comedy of it all..especially when ed was called short.

I started watching the show because my little brother turned me onto the video game. I agree with you on Lust being the most human of the homunculi - she is my favorite. I also like Alphonse - his naiviety (sp?) and the life he has lived make for a very interesting character. As far as Ed goes - I simply like him because he will fly off the handle at any little thing and can be extremely crafty when he wants to be!

My brother was the one who suggested that I watch this show, and I'm glad that I did. The story is very good and so are the characters. It was the "equivalent trade" premise that intrigued me at first.

actually, if you watch the movie ending of FMA, you'll see scar and lust happy together... but it was in the real world not in the world of alchemy... although even our hero wasn't able to say which world is the real world... i just hate the ending where the brothers were able to stay together in the "real world" in the end but left their childhood friend in the other...

I love this series because of the story. I'm a real sucker for stories about siblings and Edward and Alphonse are simply adorable (especially huge Alphonse). I even cried a number of times because of the story (my younger brother did, too. hehe).

I love this anime, but it ended kind of poorly in my opinion and by the ending I mean both the anime ending and the movie ending. This anime is well planned from using the idea of alchemy and adding on things like Homunculus and etc. The art is pretty well drawn and there are a few very touching and emotional brother scenes and such is what makes it such an awesome anime.

I'm very like Full Metal Alchemist. In The character, FMA has have different personality in every character. In the story, FMA has a complex story. Many mystery and an event that very interest. Unfortunely, I think the ending of this anime (episode 51) make me confuse and leave many question for me...
