I know I should be more concerned about the big game on Monday against OSU but I wonder what kind of pro Chris Leak will make. Who could use him? What will he have to change to be a good pro? Thoughts?

Leaks not a very mobile quarterback so it will be hard for him to find a team. If Florida wins the national championship with a great game from leak he may go to Oakland, Detroit, Houston my decide to go a different way, Tampa, Washington, and Carolina also may be looking for a new QB at least as a backup. There are a lot of different ways it could go.

This is a great question because I haven't heard of much consideration that he's been given by pro scouts. I am a Gators fan and I believe that Leak is a great quarterback (I believe he holds the passing yards record at Florida now). As far as the NFL is concerned, I am a Detroit Lions fan. As we basically are guaranteed the second overall pick in the draft behind the Raiders, I am hoping that we'll get either Troy Smith (OSU) or Russel from LSU. The reason I think that these two would be best is because they have a history of being successful running quarterback. This is something that we haven't had in Detroit, but it's something I think that Martz could use to add another dimension to his already impressive offensive play calling. I think that even Chris Leak has this potential if he's given the time to be molded into a running NFL quarterback. Remember, he's done his share of rushing this season as well, but mostly only because of the ever-present threat of Tim Tebow. Personally, I think the Lions are in prime condition to start molding a young quarterback into a star. John Kitna is a great stand-in for doing just that (remember he quarterbacked the Bengals while they were perfecting Carson Palmer's game) and this coming season is a rarity in that we actually have a veteran quarterback worthy of the starting position. In the past decade, we have thrown too many young quarterbacks to the wolves and nearly ruined their careers (Joey Harrington and Charlie Batch come to mind). But with Kitna, I think the guys that I mentioned, in addition to Leak, would be great picks for Detroit. I don't know that Leak would be picked SECOND overall though, especially since he's not getting much hype. Perhaps the national championship can boost his stock in the draft. GO GATORS!
