do you think direct linking is illegal?

How many of you think direct linking to copy righted material from a website (or your website)to rapidshare ,megaupload,filelodge.....etc is illegal?As far as im concerned it is not illegal as long as you have not uploded that copyrighted material and linked it?

Its illegal but people with less money can do it and also those make huge profit so it never matters to them.

How can it become illegal when you are not personally uploading that copyrighted material?Ya.i think it would be illegal if its the other way round.
