" War on terrorism " ; a progress audit. It is the third anniversary of 9.11 coming up soon. How is the ' war on terrorism ' progressing, you think? The overall picture globally seems to be chaotic still. There are communities gripped with fear and apprehension, there is paranoia and suspicion abound and there is anxiety with travels and presence in public places. So I have a few questions and I hope forumites can provide some opinions or answers: What do you understand by ' war on terrorism'? Who are the terrorists ? Have the Ai Qai'da and Taliban been decimated enough to render them ineffective yet? Is Islam responsible for all these bombings and killings? Has the war on Iraq helped to reduce the terrorists' activities? Was 9.11 a spontaneous event or was it the end result of grievances from other sources? If there are other sources of discontent are these resolved? Are the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay prisons hallmark of the strong stand on law and order which will deter further terrorist activities? Or do they further aggravate the situation and attract more recruits to the Jihad cause? What is the likely scenario in 12 or 24 months, time? Forumites ,this is perhaps the most important issue affecting the global security at the moment. Your opinions are welcomed.
