Did you hear about the cat's credit card?

This was cool. A woman in Australia applied and got a credit card in her cats name. She was testing her banks identity security system. I'd like one of those please...just as long as I don't have to pay the bills that my cat runs up! LOL http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070104/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_australia_cat

~there was an elderly man in an inner city council flat had several accounts for his pets, birds. cat, rabbits etc and managed to get £22,000 into debt before anyone realised that he was usung his pets, the bank were quite upset about it, especially when it hit national TV. The elderly gentleman said it was really easy and he was suprised that more stringent cheks were not put into place. I thought it was really funny, bless him.

That is funny! Years ago, all of the credit card companies were just mailing out cards to anyone who had good credit. We were tempted into using cards to buy things we couldn't afford until all of our income was used into trying to pay off credit card debt we accumulated in many cards. It was terrible. And the sad part is, it sneaks up on you. You don't quite realize what is happening until you reach that point of having no money and all of those bills!

Messiah Campbell and human friend - this cat got a credit card and in the amount of 4200 dollars. Just amazing what a credit card company will go to , to enslave more.
It amazes me each time I hear about something like that, often it is somone's dog and baby. Companys sure do have some investigating to do to repair the gab that allows the credit to be extended to an animal or minor!!!

This is deplorable really and makes a mockery of the checking system that banks are supposed to operate. The only redeeming thing is that this was a secondary card on the woman's credit card, not a separate account for the cat. I can imagine that the bank was a little bit red-faced when all was revealed, but if she applied for the card in the name of the cat the credit checking people wouldn't have found a credit problem under that name. Or at least one would hope this is what happened.

Its very scary thought really. It means young children smart enough to get on computers could have credit cards also. So much for all the checks the banks say they do on you.

That would be really scarey! I wonder if you would be liable for a credit card a child charged a bunch of stuff to! Yikes!

What a unique story. I would also be in big trouble if my cats each got a credit card in their name. I have heard of "Cat Chow" but "Cat Credit"!

Wow, that's something. I can't believe the bank just gave it to her.
